River Watch Program

The River Watch Program provides leadership experiences for students, teachers and citizens, promotes community understanding of the importance of watersheds, and contributes to a greater understanding of baseline water quality within the watershed.  Water sampling is done on a regular basis throughout the open water season.  In Manitoba, the program is delivered by the Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre, and locally by the South Central Eco Institute (SCEI). Learn more about the SCEI. SRWD has a water sampling kit that students and teachers can use to get out of the classroom and monitor their watershed by making observations on weather, flow, and water chemistry characteristics on nearby creeks and streams.
